Torchlight series is more modern and better tested. well they clamped me down from even trying. WildTangent and then the distributor issues. But, I don't know how reliable or good the reviews etc was.

It was made after, supposedly allowed more levels or progression and was about as full featured as having all of Fate 1-3 volumes together. So, I could imagine that some Fate issues might crop up in a Steam version, depending on source and with the Steam overlay etc kludge.įate: Undiscovered Realms I never tried. This was also partially the case with the Encore version of Torchlight where the registration app caused some issues. I know that original Fate 1-3 versions varied depending on distribution or publisher causing issues. I got the sense before that Fate is a touch more buggy on modern set-ups, even prior to reading this thread. Both are cartoonish, almost all the main features, from pets to pets being able to return to town and sell are otherwise identical, as discussed earlier in the thread. Fate starts off with a bit more of a childish enemy feel, like mushrooms versus Torchlight where you have kobolds, I think. In Fate, your character is larger compared to the average dungeon room than in Torchlight, so the feel is a bit different. Something unsaid is that Torchlight series has better inventory management and that gear and costume upgrades more often show on your character than in Fate Series. There are plenty of quests, weapons to discover and imbue, as well as dangerous monsters to slay.I'd say Torchlight I and/or II is the better way to go, when on sale. On a closing note, FATE: Undiscovered Realms is a decent game if you’re on the hunt for an RPG that can be both casual and really challenging at times. A fun little game with a classic vibe to it Just like you, it can level up and grow in power and if you feed it, it can shapeshift into something entirely new for a short period of time. Apart from being able to equip everything from a pitchfork to a gigantic sword, in FATE: Undiscovered Realms you can also have a pet accompany you throughout the adventure. It’s a game that balances exploration and character customization quite well.
It uses an intuitive combat system, skilling and equipping your hero is easy and so is everything else. If you’re into role-playing games where dungeon crawling is a prominent feature, FATE: Undiscovered Realms is a game you might enjoy. Things which should remove the repetitive gameplay issue by a bit. Their structure is always new, monsters spawn at different locations and every piece of loot is randomized. A really nice thing about the game is that its levels are procedurally generated, meaning that every time you log into the game to continue your adventures, the dungeons never look the same. From a visual point of view, FATE is debatable because it looks good when it comes to certain aspects but not so much when you look into the details of it all.īeing a dungeon crawler at its core, FATE: Undiscovered Realms provides the player with almost unlimited underground levels to explore.
